Better from the roots up
Our organic candles are handcrafted, microbatched, and thoughtfully designed in our Longmont, Colorado workshop to bring artistry and integrity into your everyday moments. Because we believe beautiful things should also be good things: good for you, good for the people who make them, and good for our shared environment.
Our candles
We only source and use organic ingredients with organic certificates, which we obtain and verify. Pretty simple. They smell nice, too!
Wax: Soil Association certified organic blend of beeswax, carnauba, coconut and sustainably harvested palm.
Wick: Organic Content Standard (OCS100) certified organic cotton & organic linen wick.
Fragrance: USDA (or international equivalent) certified organic essential oils and/or fragrance oils.
Our Story
We want our home to be an intentional, hospitable & beautiful place for all who spend time here. But the more we've sought to make it so, the more we've realized how many ways unwelcome, harmful chemicals insidiously find their way here. Over time, we learned this was no different with the candles we were purchasing and burning.
Instead of just dimming the lights and relaxing with a candle, we found ourselves squinting at fine print. We saw beautiful packaging and promising words like "natural," only to realize that what we were buying didn't line up with how we made choices elsewhere. It felt like an endless compromise between the cozy aesthetic we love and the values we try to live by.
We started The Organic Candle Co. in 2024 here in Longmont, Colorado, because we were tired of that compromise.
We were searching for organic candles that cared not only about being "nontoxic" (and truly meant it), but also about how the ingredients were grown, the people cultivating them, and material impact on the environment. When we couldn't find any, we decided to make them ourselves.
When you look at our candles, there is no fine print to decode. We hand-pour every microbatch using 100% verified organic wax, organic cotton and linen wicks, and organic fragrances. There are no synthetics, paraffin, phthalates or parabens.
For us, "clean" also means caring about the whole story. We filter every decision through a few simple questions: Does this support the health of the farmers, artisans, and land that produced it? Are the materials high quality, gentle on the environment, and made to last (or at least be recycled)?
It all reflects a simple conviction: the candles we bring into our homes should honor both the spaces we enjoy and the world beyond our walls.
